Needed - Ride Leaders
by Gary Shaff on Sep, 5 2014
Any Club member can lead a Club ride. The ride must be scheduled (either via the Club’s Google Group or on the Club’s ride schedule) and in that way, be open to all Club members. The ride leader must adhere to the Club’s Ride Leader Administrative Duties. These are primarily mandated by our insurance carrier except for the helmet requirement which is a Club participation standard. The Club doesn’t have any ride leader qualifications or experience requirements. However, the Club’s Board aspires to schedule and provide training to interested members.
The Club really needs more ride leaders; at all speed and endurance levels. More members need to step-up to make that happen. Posting a ride is pretty simple and leading a ride is rewarding and easily done. It would be great if we had a ride on every day of the week at all ride levels. Please consider posting and leading a ride in the future.
The Club’s insurance requires that all rides be supervised; i.e. lead by a ride leader. In this way, members participating on the ride are protected under the Club’s insurance. The insurance protections are significant; offering Club members participating in the ride, ride leader, and Board liability protection; legal representation; and up to $10,000 in medical out-of-pocket expenses for an injured cyclist (details).
