I Nearly Got Doored
by Gary Shaff on Jul, 27 2016
We all like to think the other guy is at fault or did something stupid that put us in or near harms way. Not this time. I rode too close to a parked car on a quiet residential street and … You can probably guess the rest.
The driver gasped as she began to open the door and saw that I was there and ceased opening the car door. I just missed being at the wrong place at the wrong time; but the wrong place part of it was totally my doing. I have an excuse, for what it’s worth. The temperature was a hot 85 at the end of the Wednesday Club ride and I was searching for shade. Live and learn – always maintain the proper lane position.
