Tariffs Imposed on Everything Bike
by Gary Shaff on Sep, 17 2018
The latest round of Trump imposed Chinese tariffs will effect $1 billion in bike products. The tariffs hit virtually all bike related items out of China, including complete bikes, frames, components, tires, wheels, inner tubes, auto racks and some accessories. Only helmets escaped the tariffs.
“With about 95 percent of all bikes imported into the U.S. coming from China, according to data from the U.S. Department of Commerce, the tariffs would make almost every other bicycle sold in the country more expensive.” (source: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-07-30/u-s-bike-industry-sees-little-benefit-from-impending-tariffs)
